HIGH TECH MEDICINES FOR FERTILITY TREATMENTS
On Tuesday last, 27th March, 2018 the HSE rolled out the final phase of its new ‘High Tech Hub
Prior to the 27th March pharmacies could order high-tech medication directly from suppliers whereas now pharmacies must order through the High Tech Ordering and Management System linking to the High-Tech Co-Ordinator in Dublin.
According to the HSE the benefits of this new system are :-
‘One stop shop’ for pharmacies for all high tech medicine orders
Tracking of an order from request to delivery
Central submission point for patient details and high tech prescriptions
Minimise wastage with ordering only occurring by the nominated pharmacies for patients with a valid prescription and
Automated order verification resulting in reduction error.
What this means to you is that you when you bring your prescription to the pharmacy, your GP or Gynaecologist must also enter the high tech prescription into the live hub with the prescription serial number. Your prescription must be 6 months in date. You must register with an officially nominated pharmacy as not all pharmacies will be in a position to place an order for High Tech medicines. Under the Drug Payment Scheme you pay a maximum of €134.00 per month so please ensure that you have a DPS card.
Currently there are 38 high tech medicines on the list ordered through the High Tech Hub including Decapeptyl, Gonal F, Menopur, Ovitrelle and Puregon. The HSE may add to this list throughout the year.
